CHRISTMAS NEWSLETTER 2011

2012 is fast approaching but before it does we have once again put together a newsletter for all our valued clients to have a look at what we have achieved throughout 2011.

In March this year my mum adopted Bobby, a Cocker Spaniel rescued from Spain by SOS Animals UK. Bobby has turned out to be a real blessing for my mum and the two of them have become solid friends. As a result of getting involved with Bobby it made me aware of how desperate things are for the abandoned and homeless dogs in Spain. So much so, that I have now become heavily involved with SOS Animals UK in trying to raise as much money as I possibly can for them by holding regular competitions/raffles, sale of books, home-made cards, dog biscuits and the like in the shop.

In November we held a pet portrait fund raising event for SOS Animals when we invited Alison Stewart from Fur Buddies Photography, to come along to take dog portraits. Alison managed to take some fantastic pictures of all the dogs that came along on the day and has kindly offered to donate 50% of all proceeds that she makes on any prints to SOS Animals UK. As well as Fur Buddies we also held a tombola, doggie lucky dip, refreshments and other goodies and managed to raise £292 on the day. A big thank you to everyone who came along and supported us.

We have seen lots of new puppies walking, or should I say bounding, through the door this year. It seems everybody has got themselves a furry bundle of trouble, which is great news for us, as we love playing with all the young ones. Some that come immediately to mind are Dezzie (American Cocker Spaniel), Rufus and Boris (Schnauzers), Toffee (Cocker Spaniel), Gucci (Chihuahua), Ernie (Schnauzer), Star (White Schnauzer), Bailey (Shih Tzu/Bichon) and just recently a very sweet little pug x who at the time of writing this newsletter has yet to be given a name!

As most of your know, Nikki my assistant, completed her dog grooming course in July which she thoroughly enjoyed. She has been putting all her training into practice and is fast on her way to becoming a professional groomer. We still need models for Nikki to gain further experience on a Friday morning. Please let me know if you would be happy to put your dog forward for Nikki to groom and we can agree a discounted rate. WELL DONE NIKKI!

In August we had to say bon voyage to Tiara a Maltese Terrier who has been coming to me for years and has now gone back to Japan to live. We wish her well and I have heard since that she is in good health and happy in her new environment.

Next year, my aim is to arrange a sponsored dog walk for SOS Animals in Spring sometime so if you would be interested in joining us to help raise money for a very worth cause then please let me know. Alison from Fur Buddies will be coming to take random pictures of your pet and there will be more mini competitions on the day for a bit of fun. As yet, times, dates and place are to be confirmed.

We now have our Christmas competition on the go, which is £1 per entry (all proceeds go to SOS Animals) and will be drawn on Thursday 22 December at 4.00pm. 1st prize: is a cuddly reindeer (worth £30) and a £15 dog grooming voucher; 2nd prize: £25 hair voucher kindly donated by Artizan (next door to us); 3rd prize: jar of jelly beans and a £5 dog grooming voucher; 4th prize: dog hamper and 5th prize: John Paul pet gift set donated by Evolve Hair Specialists, Fenny Stratford.
